This very cool project came to my attention via the trombone email list.  I really enjoy the composition and the performance is really fantastic as well.

I just wanted to announce the youtube release of the second movement of the “Méliés Project”. This is a collaboration I am working on with composer Frank Macchia. We are building a multi-movement trombone solo set to four silent films by the forward-thinking genius filmmaker and magician, George Méliés. This movement is set to Méliés magic trick film, “Excelsior” made in 1901 [!!]. “It’s kind of a french jazz waltz in 5/4 ” as Frank described it to me originally! This one also features Frank on clarinet, Liz Finch on accordion, Ray Brinker on brushes, and Tom Lockett on upright bass.
